Vital information assisting bushfire affected Victorians get back to work will be rolled out at community hubs in affected regions this month.
Skills and Workforce Participation Minister Jacinta Allan said the Brumby Labor Government was making it easier for bushfire affected communities to access information on its Back to Work support service.
“Community hubs will soon receive free information packs for residents to collect that outline how our $2.9 million Back to Work program can help them get back into the workforce,” Ms Allan said.
“In addition to the information packs, Back to Work staff will be visiting fire affected communities to offer face to face support.
“The support service offers tips on job hunting, resume writing, preparing for interviews, and follow-up support, and where to find skills training if necessary to ensure you have the best chance at getting the job you want.
“The Brumby Labor Government understands that fire affected communities need support and that’s why over coming weeks we will roll out information on back to work directly to community bushfire hubs, as opposed to banking on residents having telephone or Internet access.”
Ms Allan said providing Back to Work information kits was just one way the Brumby Labor Government was standing up for fire affected communities.
“In addition to fire affected communities, retrenched workers or unemployed people across Victoria can access Back to Work at any time by calling 1800 842 463 or visiting www.workforce.vic.gov.au/backtowork.”
