The Brumby Government will pay funeral costs of bushfire affected families to help relieve the financial burden of funerals for loved ones.

Bushfire appeal fund announces bereavement fund

Mr Brumby announced that the first decision of the appeal fund panel was to offer a $10,000 compassion and bereavement payment to the next of kin of any Victorian claimed by the bushfires.

Free computers to help bushfire affected families stay in touch

Families affected by the recent tragic bushfires will be offered a free computer to help them stay in touch with friends and family thanks to the Victorian Government and the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA).

Public transport assistance for bushfire victims

The Brumby Government, in conjunction with V/Line, Connex, Yarra Trams and the bus industry, will provide free travel to individuals and families who have lost their homes in the recent bushfires.
