As part of a joint $10 million Federal and State Government initiative, a special funding allocation has been made to help the State’s tourism industry recover from the recent bushfires, which swept the State. Murrindindi and Mitchell Shires will share in this funding.
The funding will be administered by the Murrindindi Mitchell Bushfire Tourism Recovery Group (MMBTG) formed recently by Tourism Victoria.
MMBTG Independent Chairman Roger Wootton, said the success of the recovery group’s efforts was highly dependent on the active involvement of everyone involved in the area’s tourism industry. Before formulating detailed marketing plans, it is imperative to hear the views of all stakeholders.” he said.
To achieve this aim, a series of evening community consultation workshops have been scheduled. The workshops will gather views and ideas from tourism industry members on how best to revitalize the area’s tourism industry.
Roger Wootton stressed the importance of everyone involved in the tourism industry attending and actively participating in the process.
Spread over a two week period, the professionally facilitated workshops, will be held throughout the Murrindindi and Mitchell shires offering a good choice of dates and locations. Commencing at 6pm & concluding by 9pm the workshops will ensure everyone’s views are captured. A light supper will be provided.
Those wishing to attend a workshop should call Graeme Haycraft, Project Manager on 0417 543466 or email Graeme@Haycraft.com at least one day prior to the workshop they wish to attend.
